VE Day Celebrations at Corton House, Brakendon Close and Brewster Court

For the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, we have been remembering and celebrate all those who served during the Second World War.
Many of our residents and tenants lived through WWII as children or young adults and have clear memories of wartime Britain – air raids, rationing, serving in the forces. And of course, the celebration when peace in Europe was finally declared!
Here, we gather some of their memories – words which are not just history, but living testament to sacrifice, wartime spirit and resilience – which can give us a small understanding of what it was like to live through the war, celebrate its end, and the lessons it can teach us:
