Corton House Activities

The Activities and Leisure Forum welcomes residents as representatives.

Maria, our Activities Coordinator, organises a programme of social activities such as games, musical evenings and parties. She also arranges outings - some attended have been an art exhibition, garden centres, theatre and a boat trip. She has also involved pupils of the 6th Form from the Norwich School and Notre Dame High School who visit frequently to volunteer. Maria is also a qualified yoga teacher and holds regular exercise sessions for Corton House.

Maria runs regular Forget-me-Not groups at Corton House using CST (cognitive stimulation therapy) designed especially for people with memory difficulties. Regular sessions of themed activities are held and these encourage social interaction and an active engagement for all those attending.

Musical therapists come in regularly to sing and play instruments.

Over the past few years we have been fortunate to work with Norwich Arts Centre and two artists have worked with our residents, assisted by local sixth-formers.

We were also involved in last year's Norfolk and Norwich Festival and with Norwich Art Centre and a local theatre company 'Odd Comic' we presented a play 'Seen but not Heard' in two separate locations linked by webcam.

A worship service is held every Wednesday at 10am and alternate Sundays for those who cannot attend their own church.

Volunteers

We are seeking people who would be willing to spend time with our residents on a regular basis, to chat, play games, use the computer, assist with crafts such as knitting, shopping or writing cards and letters.

All these activities are optional. Please see 'Neighbours' download in News for events happening each month.
