Our Brakendon Close complex comprises of 51 single or double occupancy flats and bungalows, finished to the highest standards. It is designed to provide for persons of pensionable age, who are physically capable of leading an independent life but would enjoy being part of a community and the security provided by an onsite scheme manager.  

Brakendon Close provides homes for older people in a caring environment while recognising the individual rights, privacy, dignity and independence of its tenants.

Our tenants enjoy complete independence, with the security of knowing our scheme manager is close by.

Brakendon Close activities

We have a variety of activities including everything from prize bingo on Monday's to our ever more competitive Boccia competitions.


Tenants at Brakendon Close enjoy the privacy of their own homes, while benefiting from the wider community and support that Corton House and Brakedon Close provide.

  • Gardens and Grounds - A gardener is employed to maintain the grounds, but tenants of bungalows are encouraged to keep their own small gardens in order.
  • Blake Lounge - This is the lounge where tenants meet for social functions and events such as a weekly coffee morning, Scrabble sessions, knit and natter, and carpet bowls. This lounge can be reserved at no charge by our tenants. Food and drink can be served from the kitchen which is integral. The free use of a computer with a broadband connection is available for use in this lounge. Included is a Skype facility, so that the tenants can keep in touch with their family and friends in the UK and worldwide.
  • Television and Telephones - The Management holds a communal television licence with a central TV aerial. There is no charge for a TV licence. Telephones are the responsibility of individual tenants. A service charge is payable to cover the costs of the warden service, electricity, gas, heating, gardening and window cleaning. Details are available on request.
  • Activities and Leisure - An Activities and Leisure Committee maintains a programme of social events throughout the year. Outdoor trips and indoor events are arranged for interest and enjoyment, but there is no compulsion to take part.
  • Services - A Hairdresser and Chiropodist are available weekly. Tenants may retain their own General Practitioner, providing the practice will agree to visit. The nearest practice to Brakendon Close is within walking distance. There are local churches nearby and some services are held weekly at Corton House.
  • Shopping Facilities - There are several useful shops and a post office within easy walking distance of the complex. The centre of Norwich is within walking distance for more able tenants. There is a local bus service and a monthly minibus for all tenants.
  • Guest Room - Our guest room accommodates one or two persons and is available for family of residents or tenants for a maximum of four nights. Prior notice must be given particularly in the busy months such as summer, Christmas and Easter. A charge is made for this facility.
